I believe that Poe died from rabies.
First of all, he had violent reactions to even the smallest sip of wine. how could he have managed to poison himself if this were true?
secondly, many of the symptoms in the articles highly suggest rabies. there's really no way it could be alcohol.
third, if he had gotten alcohol poisoning, he would have died a lot faster than he did.
fourth, he couldn't have had alcohol poisoning anyways. he had hydrophobia, so even drinking water was an ordeal for him.
