"Poes Final Days",claims that Poe died of taking too much alcohol. The article said that he was very vulnerable and when Mr.Sondgrass saw him. He said that Poe was a complete mess. Before Poe died he kept on saying a name. A family member wanted him to be checked into a hospital because when Poe like to drink and at those moments was very abusive.
The next article "If Onle Poe Had Succeded When He Said Nevermore to Drink". They say that Egdar Allen Poe might have died from intoxication. Then there is a theory that he might have gotten rabies. There was not eveidence of a bite or scratch to have rabies.
In "Poe's Death Is Rewritten as Care of Not Telltale Alcohol". This article says that studies suggest that he dided from rabies not alcohol. Dr.Henry Wilde says he had all the features of rabies. Mr.Jerome said Poe did not die of alcohol. This article states that he died from rabies.
The article "Rabies Death Theory" states that he might have died from rabies. Does not say that his cat could have given him rabies. But at that time they knew how rabies were transmitted but took no action. Also, at that time period animal vaccination was not available.
My theory is he dies from rabies. When someone is drunk they either throw up and don't have energy. Egdar Allen Poe on the other hand would not calm down, then all of a sudden would want to start a fight. Also, a doctor said that his brain swoll up which was a symptom of rabies. Maybe he died of intoxication, but rabies seems logical because of all the evidence.

Sarah Beeghley Final Exam Essay.
The Meaning of Tragedy
The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet stretches beyond the fact that they killed themselves for the love of each other. It stems from personal beliefs of a group of people being judgemental towards one another.
The family dynamics between the Capulet's and the Montague's were the same yet different. Each believed that they were the better than others , and deserved the best. Therefore they taught their children to be discriminatory towards other people that didn't belong to their family name. They treated others as an outcast and even fought with them
For a child to be taught to hate others that aren't exactly like them is unfortunate. It sets them up for having allot of enemies that don't personally know them. It makes them look down on people they've never met or gotten the chance to know.
This hatred caused dishonesty with Romeo and Juliet because they had to sneak around to see each other. Being accepted by ones parents in what you so is important to a young persons purpose in life.
Unfortunately because of the circumstances their parents put them in before they were born, it caused them to lie and hide their feelings for each other . This caused their untimely deaths because of the discrimination put upon them before they had a chance to make their OWN decisions in life. The way a child is taught and raised can make a person a positive or negative influence for the rest of their life.

I will never forget the "Hero's Journey". The "Hero's Journey" is a way to show the beginning of the character and the end result. You can also use it to show the plot of the story. The "Hero's Journey" makes so much sense to me. You could build any type of story with a "Hero's Journey".
The Hero's Journey begins with the seperation, and that is where the main character gets "called" to do something and leaves to pursue it. Then it goes to the Initiation, where the problem of the story usually happens. Then some sort of mentor helps the character "transform" into a better person. Return is last, and in the return stage the character comes back or does something to make the world a better place.
A good example of the Hero's Journey is The Odyssey. In this story Odysseus, goes to war and is trying to get home. On the way home problems arise. Odysseus gets through the problems and eventually comes back home. When he gets home there are people trying to take his kingdom. Odysseus kills them and restores his kingdom.
You can also use the Hero's Journey in short parts of a story. In the Odyssey, Odysseus has to enter the land of the dead to find his way home. So to enter the land of the dead Odysseus sacrifices a black lamb and an ewe. Then he enters the "abyss" That is the Land of the dead/Hell. He sees Teiresias and gets taught about what will happen. Then Odysseus transforms by learning how to get home. With the creation being he doesn't tell his men that they shall die.

Edgar Allan Poe died on October 7,1849. There are two different theries on how people said that he died. One is that people say that Poe was found outside baltimore sallon drunk and died a few days later. The other was that poe had rabbies but they were not sure on how he got them.
My belief from what i have read is that he did die from rabbies. Because like it says in one of the articles. That when someone gets rabbies it is hard to tell the symptoms. I think that he might of had it for a longer time just couldnt tell that he did.
It could have also been that he died from alcohol. I don't see enough facts and evidence on why he would have died from alcohol. But in the articles it didnt say that he liked to drink. It said that Poe would get kind of violent of of wine. So I think that he was a light drinker.
Edgar Allan Poe had all the features of ehcephalitic. Which means inflammation or swelling of the brain. That is what Dr. Henry Wilde said. Whom frequently treats rabbies at chualonkorm Universuty. Poe died in the hospital. But legand has it that he succumbed in the gutter.
So in conclusion i think that there is enough evidence that he died from rabbies. Was seen on October 3,1849 and died four days later on October 7,1849. That is just my thoughts but i really can't say that he died from rabbies or not.

"The Meaning Of Tragedy"
The Tragedy, in most cases is a true story or event. It shows how life realy is. Technicly it shows that life is full of sadness and disapointments. Shows the stages of trouble tha humans go through, to get happiness or to die in the process. They ussualy die.
As Romeo and Juliet's families were fighting with eacho other, in a party where Romeo was suposed to forget Rosaline. Wich he did. He finds Juliet and in an act of complete stupidity he falls in love with Juliet, after five seconds. But she is the only daughter of the greates anemy of his father. Of course Juliet wasn't the esxeption for this. The love for Juliet lead to the death of Mercutio, and then to thier own death. He knew that from a dream, that night lead him to his grave.
I see Troy as a tragedy too. Because everybody dies except the ones who started the war. I would ti love to see Paris die in the fight for the right to Helen, but he was coward and ran away to his brother feet, crying like a baby. But he is alife at the end and the Heros are death. Showing that when the heart loves, the mind doesn't think. Is what happen to Paris and Helen. And then to Aquiles.
The Odyssey has two parts, a comedy and a tragedy.
The Tragedy begins thanks to his man. That never listen to his orders. Thanks to their desired od leading themselfs, they die. Making Odysseus to stay with Calypso for many years. When he gets back to Ithaca there was alot of trouble. The maids became traitors. He gets there and killed them with the suitors, that try to marry Penelope. When he is back, she didin't hugh and kissed him like he spect her. But she is a smart women who has been trough alot and needs time.
The Tragedy means, sadness, trouble. The characters would survive the journey or die. They ussualy die. Leaving you with no hope.
Making you feel that there is no purpose of living.
The Tragedy is present in real life, in every action we have to choose between "happily ever after", and "make the grave a home".

EDGAR ALLEN POE
(THE MEANING OF TRAGEDY)
People have different stories on how Edgar Alen Poe died... That he was an alcoholic and that he had rabies. "The brief period when he was calm and awake, Poe refused alcohol and could drink water only with great difficulty." People thought he was an alcoholic because they found him on the floor under the stairs of a bar,or in a gutter on Baltimore. On top of that they said that his cat had scrached him or bit him, but they had no proof of that.
" Rabies victims frequently exhibit hydrophobia (fear of water) because it is painful to swallow. There is no evidence that a rabid animal had bitten poe. About one one fourth of rabies victims reportedly cannot remember being bitten by the animal."
"After the infection it can take up to a year for the symptoms to appear".
" His face was pale and drenched in sweat". A lot of people say that he was an alcoholic and then they say that he has rabies. I think Edgar Allen Poe died of rabies, the reason i say he died of rabies is because in the stories that i read about his death say more things about him dying from rabies more then he supposedly died of alcoholism. They say when you get the infection you die a couple of days after the infection has shown the symptoms. Edgar died four days later after he was hospitalized. I believe that Edgar Allan Poe had rabies .
Zack Dehnhardt- How Did Poe Die?
I believe that Poe died from rabies.
First of all, he had violent reactions to even the smallest sip of wine. how could he have managed to poison himself if this were true?
secondly, many of the symptoms in the articles highly suggest rabies. there's really no way it could be alcohol.
third, if he had gotten alcohol poisoning, he would have died a lot faster than he did.
fourth, he couldn't have had alcohol poisoning anyways. he had hydrophobia, so even drinking water was an ordeal for him.

Robert Soberano Final exam essay
The Hero's journey is basically a outline to every pieces of literature. It contains 3 stages, the Separation, which is the start of the journey. The initiation which is practically the journey it self. Last is the return when the hero (who can be anyone) returns and makes his community better. In these stages comes events each stage has three events excluding the return which only has one. In the separation there are the calling, the reason the hero leaves , the threshold, which is if he stays or goes, the descent, which is when the journey begins. In the initiation the events are the abyss, which is the hero is going into the unknown, the mentor, the hero finds a teacher, and the transformation, which is when the hero preforms a solo heroic duty. Last is the stage in the return. That is the creation, this is just basically the hero creating a better community. will be applying all of these stages into the timeless journey of the Odyssey
In the begging of this journey the main character Odysseus is called to war just as soon as his son is born, this is the calling. Although he is leaving his kingdom of Ithaca and his family he decides to fight for the king of Greece in the Trojan war , during this time he steps thorough the threshold and decides to fight. He then sets sail to Troy to fight in the war where he then enters the descent starting his journey.
Seven years into the war his brilliant brain wins the war. After the war he then sets sail to his home Ithaca. He then is thrown into the abyss where he is lost in the sea due to the God Poseidon.
He then sails in the sea aimlessly. Through out this journey he has four mentor. Athena, Aeolus, Circe and Teresias. They all give him information that will help him get home, but he then withholds information from his men to get home. This then gets 6 men killed in the fight of Scylla and Charybdis. This act counts as a solo heroic act then creating the transformation.
Then after spending quite a few years with Calypso he finally returns home. Here he reunites with his son after 20 years of having not seen him. Afterwards he goes to his house only to find that his kingdom is over ran by suitors trying to court his wife and take his kingdom for his son. He the devises a plan teaming up with a loyal swineherd, cowherd and his son to take out and kill the suitors. Succeeding he retakes his kingdom and proves himself to his wife Penelope.
So as you can see the Hero's Journey can be applied to all types of literature. Even though you cant find all these elements in every piece of literature a few can be found. You can even apply the Hero's Journey to you very own life. The Hero's Journey is a very vital part to the world of literature. So next time you clean your room or go to your job or school you can find at least on stage or event in your day.

Bryan Galvan Final Exam:How did poe Die?
There are many storys about Poes death. They say he died of alchohol and rabies. I don't think he died of any of those. My theory is that he died of a plague. He was gone during september and was in richmand.
When he came back he had a trunk with cloths, books, and manuscripts. A week later on October 3, 1849 he was seen in a saloon. They say he was drunk and to selfish to worry about the rain and wind. There was no evidence of a bite or scratch mark. A glass of wine could make him very ill for days.
He was found outside the saloon in an alchoholic stupor. When he died his cat was not infected from rabies. His cat died of starvation. When he was found he was wearing someones elses clothes. He looked very ill by then.
After the day at the saloon it was hard for him to drink water. Maybe he had a soar thoat. They described hi as E.P. "Edger Poe". He was half- conscious when he reached the hospital. He did not have rabies.
He had to be carried to the cart to get him to the hospital. On the forth day he was very confused. He kept on repeating a name then got quiet and died. This is why I think Edger Allen Poe had a plague.

Jerry Stark--Final Exam essay
I think that Edgar allen Poe died of rabies 3 out of 4 stories explans the death. they also said that the rabbies was from a scratch or a cut. The other story said that he was sick and he was in the hospitalwaiting to die. Letting visitos come when he usually never did. One author said that they seen him sleeping outside a Baltimore saloon in a alcoholic supportor. Another Auther says that their was a theory that he had rabbies but people that have it remember when they get bit or scratch he said that he was not bit or scratched. Some people say that his cat was the carrier but if the cat does have it would'nt people know that the cat has rabies.
ther is no real evidence of how he really died all we know is that he could of been sick or have the rabies the whole time he was on the trip. The last author said that he did not die drunk in a gunner in Baltimore. knowing all these stories i came to conclusion that he probly got rabbies when he was on the boat and did'nt know he had it. It takes a year to realise he has it.

2 out of 4 say he died of raibies. raibies is usually caused by the bite, scratch , or wound from an infected animal. some say he died in a hospital bed from unkown causes. he was in a hospital for the last days of his life but he was dying from raibies. when he was in the hospital he wouldnt let any one come in. and that is my final in a nutshell

For a child to be taught to hate othere that aren't exactly like then is unfortunate. It sets them up for having a lot of enemies that don't personaly know them. It makes them look down on people that they haven't met or gotten to know them.
Michael Johnson Final Exam Essay
The Meaning of Tragedy In Romeo & Juliet to me at the end was the biggest tragedy because all Juliet wanted was to be with Romeo but there love could never be only because there families were in a feud with each other. Another tragedy was when Romeo killed Tybalt because Tybalt killed Mercutio. I thought that it was Romeo's fault that Mercutio was killed because Mercutio and Tybalt were playing and Romeo took all serious.
Another tragedy was when Romeo was banned from Verona. Juliet was just torn apart and when her father said "Marry Paris or you will be disowned" i felt that she had no say in who she had to marry because everyone could see that she was head over heels in love with Romeo. If romeo was a Capulet then he and Juliet could be together and if Juliet was a mercutio then her and romeo could be together.
Love dying is a tragedy. Juliet felt that if she could not be with the one she loved then she would kill herself. When she said " If he be taken then my bed is my grave" i think she was really in love with him and if she was that in love with him then her parents should of respected her decision to be with him. Romeo's love for juliet was well known from the first time he laid eyes on her but he also was to wed. Rosaline but he did not want her he wanted juliet.
Romeo and juliets love will live on even after death. When romeo saw that juliet was "dead" and then he poisoned himself because he could not have her. I thought that ; that was true love. When juliet awoke and saw Romeo lifeless she tried to take the poison and nothing happened then she tried to kiss him and nothing happened then she picked up his dagger and stabbed herself taking her own life. As both of them lie there lifeless in each others arms you knew that they were truly deeply in love because they were willing to die for each other.
When there family approach there dead children they ask the friar all that happened and the friar explains to them that romeo & juliet were Married and the king of Capulet did not believe them then he saw that romeo had a letter to his father and it comfirmed everything that the Friar was saying, In the end the Capulets and the Montagues settle there differences and stop Fueding

What I learned from Mr. Altenburgs Second period class was all about the Hero's Journey Method.Which is how to break down a story. With the hero's journey method. By appling the method to a person in the story and callin them a hero.
How the Hero's Journey works is. Frist things for the hero's journey are stages. Which are seperation, Initaition, and return this are all in order. Then there the events what are inside the stages like this. Seperation-calling, thershold, and descent. Next is Initiation-abyss, mentor, and transformation. And last is the return-creation.
Ther are all the parts of the hero's journey works is seperation stage wher the hero is troubled and bound to set out on his journey(Calling). Then the thershold is when the hero decides to go on the journey or stay. Next is the descent. Where the hero startes his journey but is not known their way.Lowest point of story
Then comes the second stage. Intiation! Where the hero traveles to the unknow. This is the abyss. THen next a mentors supposed to come and find them and teach them. So they can gain knowlegde to find thier way. They help them through heroic deeds. Them from doin this deeds the get to the transformation events that transformes them into a hero .
Then ther is the final stage is the return is wher thew hero goes back to his home. The place he left go out to help and stop the problems that harshed them. They stop the problems by the knowledged gained. Which this also known as the creation part i. This the end of the story wher hero made it better place and world for themselfes and the people suppose to be helpin
This is the things I learned in Mr.Altenburges Seconed peroid. Hero' Jorney.

In this essay i will be talking about "The Hero's Journey". The Hero's Journey is when the protagonist of the story of film leave his home and journey. In the journey that he will do the protagonist will change and when he comes back home he or she would change the society or his or her home. One of the two literature I'll talk about is The Odyssey. The other literature is Romeo and Juliet.
The Odyssey's Hero's Journey I will be talking about is The Land of the Dead. It is also called "A Journey within a Journey". The Hero's Journey can be found in The Land of the Dead because all the parts of the Hero's Journey us present in this chapter of the literature. An example of the Hero's Journey being present is when Odysseus went to The Land of the Dead to find Teiresias.
The other literature that i will be talking about is Romeo and Juliet. The Hero's Journey is also present in this literature. The Hero's Journey developed in this literature when Romeo went tot the Capulets party. It started when Romeo and Juliet met at the party. The Hero's Journey ended when Romeo and Juliet died together at the end.
The Hero's Journey were present at both literatures. Every literature have the Hero's Journey in them. The reason I talked about the Odyssey and Romeo and Juliet is that the Hero's Journey in these two literature can be easily found. Also that these two literatures have many pages but you can find the Hero's Journey in them easily.
Iesha Greer Final Exam Essay
In the play Romeo and Juliet two lovers from different families fall in love. This causes a big tragedy bad for them good for the families.
Romeo is a Montague, Juliet is a Capulet their families hate each other. One night Romeo's friends convince him to go to a Capulet party, when he gets there he spots Juliet and it was like love at first sight. They talk and they really like each other but they know they could never get married. They do it anyways. Romeo and Juliet go to the Friar and he marries the two together, but nobody knows except the three of them.
In Verona where the story takes place the Prince clearly states that if he catches anyone fighting that they will be killed. Juliet's cousin and Romeo's friend were playing around and Tybalt (Juliet's cousin) accidentally kills Mercutio (Romeo's friend) but he gets away with it, but Romeo doesn't let him get away with it. Romeo went and found Tybalt and fought him till he killed him but that was a big mistake. The prince finds out about what happened, but instead of killing Romeo he just banishes him from Verona, because of what Tybalt did to Mercutio. When he was banished he was not only banished from Verona he was banished from his family and his wife...
When Romeo gets banished Juliet is pretty much forced to marry Paris as soon as possible, (a fellow Capulet) but she really doesn't want to marry him. She goes to the Friar and asks him for help as to what to do, he has a plan. His plan is for Juliet to drink a potion to make her look like she's dead so when she wakes up the next morning instead of her having a wedding she will have a funeral. Back in these days they didn't bury people under the ground they put them in an underground dungeon. So he gives her the potion and the plan is for her to drink it and look dead and get put into the underground dungeon and after the funeral Romeo will come and save her. Before this the Friar sent a letter to Romeo in Montua telling him about the plan, but it never gets there.
The next morning Romeo heared that Juliet was dead and that her family was putting together a funeral for her. Being the loyal husband he is, he hops on a horse buys some poison and gets on his way back to Verona. When he gets there he goes to the dungeon he sees her and he drinks the poison and he kills himself. Moments later Juliet wakes up from her deadly sleep she sees that Romeo killed himself thinking that she was really dead, she trys to kiss him and get the poison off his lips so she could die too, but it doesn't work so she goes to plan b she takes out his knife and she stabs herself and she died right next to her husband.
In the denouement Romeo and Juliet are dead and the families realize their fighting effects a lot of people including their children. The tragedy in this story brought the families together they stopped fighting but their fighting killed Romeo and Juliet. It was bad for Romeo and Juliet, but good for the families.

The Odyssey Hero's Journey
I am going to use the Hero's Journey to explain the Odyssey. The Calling in the Odyssey is to go home. Going home is really important to them. That is all they want to do. The Threshhold is also used in the Odyssey.
The Threshhold is a tough decision that the characters have to make. Odysseus has to make a lot of decisions throught the story. Tha Descent is when they leave the war. They just won the war in the beginning of the story. That is when they are going to go home.
The Abyss is the unknown. Odysseus and his men are in the Abyss a lot. They get pulled off course a lot so they go towards unknown areas. The Mentor is Odysseus. He has to tell his men what not to do. They don't listen all the time.
The transformation is when Odysseus changes. Odysseus didn't change a lot. He was smart all through the story. The Creation was used in the story. He got rid of all the men at his house. That made his wife happy.
Zack Dehnhardt- Final Exam Essay
The Odyssey is a perfect example of the Hero's Journey because Odysseus completes the entire Hero's Journey from the time he leaves Troy to the time he slays the suitors and reclaims his kingdom. In this essay, I will go through each event and theme of the Hero's Journey, and explain what Odysseus did in each one.
The Threshold: Poseidon cast Odysseus' men into the sea, and they eventually washed up on the isle of the Lotus Eaters. When three of Odysseus' men ate the petals of the Lotus, they forgot all about their homes, and never wanted to leave. However, Odysseus and some of his other men forced the men back into the boat, and tied them to the floor so that they didn't try to jump out and swim back until the Lotus' effects wore off. The Threshold best represents this part of the Hero's Journey because now Odysseus has reached the point where there is no turning back.
The Descent: By the time Odysseus and his men made it to The Descent stage of the Hero's Journey, they were at the isle of the Laestrygonians. When the men came onshore, the vicious Laestrygonians killed and ate many of Odysseus' men before they fled to the seas once more. They continued sailing, completely usure of where they will land next. This part is best illustrated by The Descent because Odysseus and his men are descending into the Abyss right away.
The Separation
The Calling: Odysseus' calling began when he was getting ready to leave Troy. He and his men were heading to Ithaca, and stopped off at another kingdom. Once there, they killed everyone in that kingdom. Because of this, Poseidon cast them out to sea. The Calling best represents this phase of Odysseus' journey because it is the very first part of the journey.

When the men came onshore, the vicious Laestrygonians killed and ate many of Odysseus' men before they fled to the seas once more. They continued sailing, completely usure of where they will land next. This part is best illustrated by The Descent because Odysseus and his men are descending into the Abyss right away.
The Initiation
The Abyss: Odysseus and his men come upon the isle of the Cyclopes. There, they meet a cyclops called Polyphemus, who traps them in his cave, and eats two of Odysseus' men. Odysseus drugs him with wine, and then stabs Polyphemus in the eye with a sharpened log heated in a campfire. Polyphemus is blinded, and he makes his way to the door to the cave, and opens it. When Odysseus and his men try to get out, Poly. blocks them. So Odysseus ties his men underneath Polyphemus' sheep, and they make it out. When they escape, Polyphemus cries out to his father, Poseidon, to avenge him. When they set out again Poseidon sends the ship away, towards the isle of the Witch Circe. The Abyss best represents this part of the Hero's Journey because they are now in completely unknown lands.
The Mentor: Odysseus and his men come upon the isle of the witch Circe, and she turns Odysseus' men into pigs. Odysseus eats some garlic, and then confronts her. When Circe tries to turn Odysseus into a pig, it doesn't work because of the garlic. Then Circe turns all of the pigs back into men, and tells Odysseus to go to the Land of the Dead to talk to the blind prophet Tereisius. The Mentor best suits this part because Circe guides Odysseus into the next part of his Journey.
The Transformation: Tereisius tells Odysseus that they will come upon the cattle of the sun god Helios. If they slay the cattle, they will all be killed except for Odysseus. If they don't they will all survive and get back to Ithaca. When they make it to the land of Helios, Odysseus' men betray him and kill all of the cattle. After they leave the island, Helios destroys their ship, and only Odysseus survives. He washes up on the isle of Calpsyo, and the enchantress keeps him there for twenty years. This part of the Journey is best called the Transformation because it's the longest part of the HJ and Odysseus was in it for 20 years.
The Return
The Creation: Odysseus arrives at Ithaca to find his house overrun by suitors intent on marrying Penelope, his wife. Odysseus sneaks in disguised as a beggar, and then traps all of the suitors and kills them with the aid of his son, Telemachus, the cowherd and the swineherd. This section is best called the Return because it is the last part of the Hero's Journey.
